Our story
WebAlive was founded in Melbourne's Docklands in 2003 — one of the earliest AU firms delivering end-to-end web solutions for Australian businesses. Over the following two decades, the WebAlive team built software for organisations across retail, sport, government, health, and industrial sectors, developing the hard-won sector knowledge and delivery discipline that no amount of venture capital can shortcut.
By 2026 it was clear that AI had structurally changed what was possible in software delivery. The cost of building software had dropped to a fraction of what it was in 2023. The question was whether to absorb that saving or pass it to clients. The same directors and management team who had built WebAlive decided the answer was obvious — and built the firm they always wished existed.
Effektiv is that firm. AI-first from day one, outcome-priced rather than day-rate, and built on a proprietary delivery platform — EffektAI — that ships to the client at the end of every engagement. The WebAlive heritage is not a footnote. It is the reason Effektiv can make claims that a startup cannot.
2003
Melbourne's Docklands. End-to-end web solutions for Australian businesses. One of the first AU firms to treat web delivery as an engineering discipline rather than a production service.
2010s
Named-account work across retail, sport, government, health, and industrial portfolios. The sector knowledge, procurement navigation, and delivery discipline that cannot be learned from a slide deck.
2025
AI begins writing 60–70% of code on well-run projects at a fraction of the 2023 cost. The saving exists. The question becomes: who keeps it — the vendor, or the client?
2026
The same directors and management team who built WebAlive establish Effektiv — a 100% AI-first software services company. Outcome-priced. Built on EffektAI. The saving goes to the client.
We spent twenty years delivering AU enterprise software before AI changed the cost of building it. When the saving arrived, we had a choice: keep it, or build a firm that passes it to the client. We built the firm. Every engagement is outcome-priced, every platform component ships to the client at exit, and the eval rig is the shared measure — not our word against theirs.

Executive Director · Effektiv
Our founders
The principals who scope your work are the ones who build it. As Effektiv grows we will introduce the full team here — for now, these are the founders.
Founder & Principal Engineer
Managing Director of Web Mascot Pty Ltd — the company behind both WebAlive and Effektiv — for over sixteen years, and a founder of The Mascoteers. Ashiq has been the technical and operational lead of the business since 2005, building the distributed systems, integration architectures, and delivery capability that Effektiv is founded on. Before WebAlive he served as CTO of Dekko Airnet and lectured in technology at university level. He is the principal engineer behind EffektAI and runs every Effektiv engagement personally for the first 90 days — the architecture, the eval rig design, and the agent mesh configuration are his before the build team accelerates.
Executive Director & Head of Client
Nearly three decades in Australian software businesses — from MYOB's early product teams through Oracle Aconex, and six years as General Manager of WebAlive. Andrew has sat at the intersection of client relationships, product delivery, and commercial outcomes for the full arc of the AU software industry. At Effektiv he leads every client conversation from first contact through go-live, replies to every benchmark request within one working day, and sits in every steering committee meeting. The commercial model — outcome-priced, no day rates, client keeps the saving — is his.
Partner & Capital
A founding shareholder in WebAlive from 2003, Michael has been part of the business behind Effektiv since its inception. Four decades in Australian and international capital markets — Merrill Lynch, UBS, and 24 years at Credit Suisse where he led leveraged and acquisition finance for Australia, building one of the firm's most consistently high-performing franchises. Founding partner of Tanarra Credit Partners and former Non-Executive Director of ASX-listed rhipe (acquired by Crayon). Michael brings the capital structure, board-level governance, and M&A experience that lets Effektiv engage enterprise and institutional clients on commercial terms they recognise.
As Effektiv grows we will build this section out to include the full team. The founding commitment — that every senior role on a client engagement is filled by someone who has done it before — does not change as headcount grows.
Vision & Mission
Our values
We partner with clients to solve problems together — not deliver a product and leave. The eval rig is the shared measure. The outcome is the shared goal. We do not declare done until the client agrees it is done.
We post our pricing. We publish our eval gates. We tell clients when their existing approach is part of the problem. Honest relationships produce better work than comfortable ones — and that is what drives our best outcomes.
AI is not a feature we added. It is the operating model. Every engagement is built on EffektAI — a platform that improves with each production run and transfers completely to the client. We use AI to solve problems more effectively, not to justify higher rates.
We price on results, not hours. The variable component of every outcome contract pays only when the EffektAI eval rig confirms we beat the client's benchmark. This is not a claim — it is a clause in the contract.
APRA CPS 230, the AU AI Voluntary Safety Standard, NIST AI RMF, and data sovereignty are built into EffektAI from the first architecture conversation — not added as a procurement checklist after delivery. AU regulated clients do not have to ask twice.
The eval rig, the authorship trace, the runbooks, and every EffektAI platform component ship to the client repo at exit. We have no commercial incentive to retain them. A client that can run without us is a client that trusts us — and refers us.
Born from delivery. Built for outcomes.
Show us a scope, a legacy system, or a quote you've received. We price on outcomes — 40–60% lower than a comparable day-rate engagement — with the WebAlive heritage and the EffektAI platform behind every line of code.
